Áreas de Práctica: Financiamiento de Proyectos

From Tuesday, August 21st to Monday, August 27th, 2018

The president of the National Assembly of Regional Governments (ANGR), Luis Valdez, informed that the development of the project can be restart in the coming weeks, once the concessionaire of the project, the Odebrecht company, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, determine the best solutions applicable to the suspension.

Among the alternatives considered by the parties are: (i) to transfer the project to an interested bidder that assumes the contractual position of Odebrecht in the concession agreement; (ii) the resolution of the concession agreement agreed by the parties, considering that the unfinished part of the project could be executed as a public work; or (iii) Odebrecht continues to execute the project.

As it is remembered, the selling process the assets of the Chavimochic project was suspended due to the non-continuity of an interested bidder. However, as reported in previous days, the works of the project’s dam would conclude thanks to a loan of US$ 100 million that would be granted by the Andean Development Corporation - CAF.

  • Coelvisac informed that it will build a new transmission line in the agro-industrial zone of Olmos, a project that will require an estimated investment of US$ 15 million (Gestión).

  • Hydro Global reported the construction of a US$ 85 million transmission line that will connect the San Gabán III hydroelectric plant with the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN) (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Transport and Communications reported that the expropriation of land for the expansion project of the Jorge Chávez Airport will be delayed due to legal proceedings regarding the ownership of properties required for that purpose (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Environment informed that the regulations of the Climate Change Law will require investment projects (public and private) to incorporate the effects of climate change into their designs (Gestión).

  • The Peruvian government is evaluating alternatives for the restart of works of the "Chavimochic III" project. The options include the possibility of transferring the project to a new concessionaire, the agreed termination of the concession agreement or the continuity of the project by Odebrecht (Gestión).

  • The "Mina Justa" mining project will receive US$ 200 million from Korea Eximbank for the development of its operations (Gestión).
