SPOTLIGHT

The Ministry of Transport and Communications reported that 60 PPP projects have been identified, representing an estimated investment of US$ 26 billion to be executed in the coming years. Additionally, it is evaluating a portfolio of 31 additional projects for an estimated value of US$ 13 billion

According to the Ministry's Multi-Annual PPP Investment Report, a portfolio of more than 60 PPPs projects has been identified, representing an estimated total investment of US$ 26 billion, which can be formulated or implemented in the coming years.

Among the main projects identified are the "Longitudinal de la Sierra  Highway Sections 4 and 5" and 3 private co-financed initiatives that are in the process of being declared of interest. Port projects have also been reported, such as the project for the "Modernization and Development of the Port of Salaverry", as well as railway projects such as the "Huancayo - Huancavelica Railroad" project, the "Line 3 and Line 4 of the Metro of Lima and Callao" and " the Commuter Train Barranca - Lima - Ica "; as well as broadband installation projects for different regions of the country.

Likewise, the report is analyzing a portfolio of 31 additional projects for an estimated value of US$ 13 billion. These projects are awaiting the completion of the corresponding technical studies. Among these projects are the "Highway to the Port of Callao", "Improvement and Expansion of the South Panamerican Highway", the "Port of Chimbote", the “Multipurpose Porto of Marcona", "Logistic Park of Ancón ", among others.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced the extension of Line 1 of the Lima Metro to the district of Lurín (Lima). The financing of the project will be made through a debt issuance and a credit facility granted by the Inter-American Development Bank

The Minister of Transport and Communications, Bruno Giuffra, announced that the government has decided to extend Line 1 of the Lima Metro to the district of Lurín, in the south of the city, in order to meet the demand for mass transportation of passengers.

Currently the ministry is evaluating the structure of the expansion project, considering the execution through the public works scheme. The financing would be made through the Inter-American Development Bank (BID) and resources from the issuance of bonds associated with the project. This expansion project could be linked to the project “Commuter Train Barranca - Lima – Ica”, currently under evaluation.

MONDAY 25

  • The organizing committee of the “Panamerican Games Lima 2019” announced that there are currently 102 companies interested in participating in tender process for three infrastructure works for the event. The tender for the improvement of the facilities of the deportive village "Videna" will take place on November 17 and will have an estimated investment of US$ 161 million (Gestión).

  • The director of the Reconstruction Authority, Pablo de la Flor, reported that at least 3 bidding processes for preventive and road works have returned to the formulation stage due to observations made by the General Comptroller of the Republic and the Supervisory Authority of Contracts with the Government - OSCE (Gestión).

  • The director of the Reconstruction Authority, Pablo de la Flor, announced that projects with technical files for almost US$ 305 million have already been identified (Gestión).


FRIDAY 22

  • The Ministry of Public Works and Housing of Bolivia announced the interest of a Swiss company to participate in the structuring and development of the bioceanic train project (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation announced the investment of US$ 122 million in prevention works in the Piura region (Gestión).


THURSDAY 21

  • The Peruvian government announced that 6 megaprojects have been unlocked to date for a total investment of US$ 2.48 billion (Gestión).

  • Reconstruction projects in the agriculture sector would begin in the second quarter of 2018, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced the extension of Line 1 of the Lima Metro to the district of Lurín (Lima). The financing of the project will be made through a debt issuance and a credit facility granted by the Inter-American Development Bank (Gestión).


WEDNESDAY 20

  • Edmer Trujillo, president of the Technical Agency for the Administration of Sanitation Services - OTASS, reported that there are 15 water and sanitation projects that are ready to be granted in concession to the private sector (Gestión).

  • The "Chinecas" irrigation project (Áncash) would have to be restructured due to land problems, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Gestión).


TUESDAY 19

  • InRetail Real Estate Corp., operator of the malls of the Intercorp group, announced its interest in investing around US$ 300 million until 2019 in the acquisition of new lands for the development of shopping center projects (Gestión).

  • The Project Department of the Talara refinery announced that there are 11 companies prequalified for the adjudication of the auxiliary units and complementary works of the modernization project of the refinery (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Transport and Communications is evaluating the possibility of reviewing the concession contract for the "Optical Fiber Network" project in order to obtain a more competitive rate in relation to the operators of the internet service in the country (Gestión).
